Top EDC Bags: Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5: New, Old and 1.0x Comparison
After using all three bags, I decided to film an unscripted comparison of the new version of the Evade 1.5, the old version of the Evade 1.5, and the Evade 1.0x. In general, these are all some of my favorite bags, especially for EDC, and I've been taking them to work for the past few months.

    There is another slim sleeve carryology edition that's not chimera, or premium from the outside, but from the inside, it looks better than this. I wish they made the wallet look like this from the outside, with the premium leather and then the inside of the current one that's available to buy. Would have been a great combination. It's the pattern I like so much in the current one. But the outside of this looks so much better. Bellroy definitely needs to do more collaborations with chimera, for more products

    Hello Andy. One question: Do you know the can difference between the aeronaut 45 and techonaut 45 in the main compartment only?

    • @AndyModellBackpacks
      @AndyModellBackpacks 26 днів тому

      The aeronaut is more of a duffel with backpack straps. The Techonaut is more of a backpack in that style that doubles as a duffel. The aeronaut the pockets on each end that expand into the main compartment while the other has only on the bottom.

    • @luiseduardoacevesgonzalez2228
      @luiseduardoacevesgonzalez2228 26 днів тому

      @@AndyModellBackpacks Thanks! I guess my question came from the fact that the aeronaut has 2 side compartments and the techonaut only one, but both have the same capacity. That is why I thought the main compartment of the techonaut would be bigger than that of the aeronaut without expanding the side pockets. I just wanted to make sure of this...

    • @AndyModellBackpacks
      @AndyModellBackpacks 24 дні тому

      That’s accurate. It’s also worth checking the exterior dimensions of the bags, because I think the techonaut may be deeper than the aeronauts

    Great video. I've been using a GR2 26 and I really like it. Just got a double comp Bullet but I'm still on the fence on keeping it. GR2 seems more versatile since I can use it fully packed or leave some space for purchases vs. the Bullet that I'd always have fully packed.

    • @AndyModellBackpacks
      @AndyModellBackpacks Місяць тому

      They’re all bags of quality, but they definitely pack differently. If you’re a bigger fan of having things in pouches or cases, than the bags with more pockets and organization may be less likely to fit. At the same time, I still use my TB synapse as my day pack while traveling, and I’m actually rocking a synik this week.

    Thank you for this. It's nice to see this bag packed for traveling. I just ordered the 18L, and I am wanting to use it for international trips that are over a week long. This proved to me that I can definitely use it for one-bag traveling. I will be packing a medium sized Thule compression cube, a small Nomatic compression cube, my liquids pouch, a tech pouch, a crochet project, important papers folder, snacks, and my Fjallraven Vardag crossbody bag (because the backpack itself will have to be a carry-on as it's too big for the airline personal item dimensions). But I think I can fit it all easily into this bag after watching this video.

    • @AndyModellBackpacks
      @AndyModellBackpacks 3 місяці тому

    • @RebeccaSmith77
      @RebeccaSmith77 3 місяці тому

      I *think* I can make it work. I went to Ireland in March, and both my clothing packing cubes (I brought way more than I needed), a crochet project, and a tech pouch fit into my Tom Bihn Paragon 2.0. Having made that trip, I came home, and did a practice pack to see if I could only use one medium packing cube for clothing and still have room. I can. I may have to bring a crossbody bag if the Goruck ends up too big for under the seat. But I think I can make it work with this one Goruck bag. When it arrives, I will do a test pack run to see. ☺️ Having laundry facilities wherever I stay will mean I can pack less clothing.

    Thanks for the side by side Andy I think I'm leaning more towards the older gen. Some questions: Are there much of a noticable difference between the comfort level on the harness and ventilation between the two 1.5s? Say with a full load, 3 days worth of clothings and a laptop. For the conceal pocket on the old gen, can you access it for quick grabs or dumps with both shoulder straps still on? Many thanks. Also I've noticed there aren't a lot of heft on the new gens front bottom pocket? Not looking that useful.

    • @AndyModellBackpacks
      @AndyModellBackpacks 4 місяці тому

      I would say the harnesses are similarly comfortable. Maybe the new one has a slight edge. I think it is possible to reach the conceal pocket on the old gen with the bag on if you can easily reach your spine behind your back. The bottom pocket on the new gen isn't very big, but if you have smaller items, it can still be useful.

    Oh boy, I was looking at getting this bag finally after hearing so much positives, but seems like like they removed a lot of the great features just to save weight and for a cleaner look with this new version. The bottom straps would be nice for a blanket, jacket or sleeping bag, took out the Molle interior panel. While I do like the magnetic patch, the coyote interior color. It seems like this bag has less features than the old one.

      I think it’s a very common tradeoff between weight and features for bag designers. Some brands make the most feature filled bags, but their weight makes the carry experience significantly worse

      @@AFGixxeR88 Yeah it was 4.4 lbs with the Cordura normal one. I'm used to carry a lot of weight on my back/backpacks but even if its a difference of 2lbs from an empty bag you can feel the difference overtime and feels bulky.

      The bottom straps were removed based on a user poll which said most people didn't really use it.

      @@Kwisss I wouldn’t use them most of the time either but say you got drenched or had a blanket it would be nice to stow underneath. I was going to get one for my Hawaii trip but doesn’t seem like the RG is available anymore

    Good vid! Thank you. Subscribed. I prefer the original Goruck anytime but the CT are a good alternative. Prefer the original to support Jason and team. Don’t like “copies” of intellectual / design property infringements of Jason’s original ideas but this is arguably the best compliment made to Goruck and solidifies its cult-like status in the rucking community. I have nothing against CT at all - great on them for affordability but keep it original please and move away from Goruck as an independent standalone design and production company of its own line of bags. Customers decide what they want.

    Where did you buy the velcro patch with the alpha one niner logo on the front of the old version of the backpack?

      The company gave them out to some folks who have done reviews in the past.
